What is TFI Local Link Mayo?
TFI Local Link Mayo is one of 15 TFI Local Link services nationally that provide safe secure and reliable Public Transport services in local and rural areas of Ireland.
How can I contact TFI Local Link Mayo?
The TFI Local Link Mayo office operates Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm from Glenpark House, The Mall, Castlebar, Co Mayo and can be contacted via phone on 094 900 5150, email at mail@locallinkmayo.ie or drop in within office hours.
How can I find out about TFI Local Link services in my area?
There are 3 ways in which to find out about TFI local link services in your area.
- Visit the timetables section of this site to view what services are in your area.
- Contact your the TFI Local Link office on 094 9005150 to request a timetable or for information about services in your area, particularly where Door-to-Door routes services are available.

Are bicycles permitted on Local Link services?
Local Link Mayo accept the carriage of folding bicycles subject to accommodation being available. Language space my vary by vehicle type and carriage of bicycles may not always therefore be guaranteed.
The carriage of non-folding bicycles is not permitted on low floor vehicles. On other Local Link vehicles, the carriage of non-folding bicycles is limited and subject to space being available.
On low floor-vehicles, if a bicycle is folded and capable of being stored in a designated luggage area, it will be carried subject to space being available. Otherwise, it will not be permitted to be carried. Folded bikes must not be placed where they could obstruct the gangway or any passenger entrance or emergency exit.
It is recommended that passengers check in advance.
Are mobility scooters permitted on Local Link services?
Mobility scooters are permitted on public transport (bus, rail, and Local Link) if they meet size and weight requirements and pass an operator assessment. Permits are not required.
Operators require advance notice for mobility scooters to ensure the scooter must fit in the designated wheelchair space and the combined weight (scooter + passenger) must not exceed ramp limits (typically around 300kg to 350 kg). Lithium-ion batteries in mobility scooters are allowed. The recent ban applies only to e-scooters, not mobility scooters or e-bikes.
Are e-scooters permitted on Local Link services?
No. As of October 2024, public transport operators are prohibited to carry e-scooters for safety reasons to help prevent the risk of combustion on board vehicles.
Will my Free Travel Pass be accepted on TFI Local Link Services?
Yes – Free Travel Passes are accepted on all TFI Local Link Services
What means of payment are used on a TFI Local Link Service?
- We accept cash on all RRS/DRT services.
- TFI Leap Card/TFI Go App are accepted on specific RRS Services.
- Debit/Credit cards are not accepted as means of payment.
- Fares for TFI Local Link services vary with single, return, student and child fares and weekly fares available. For fare structures visit the Fares
- The Free Travel Pass is accepted on all TFI Local Link Services.
How do I book a seat?
We offer three types of service: Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), Regular Rural Services (RRS) and Smart DRT (TFI Anseo).
RRS: You do not need to book the Regular Rural Services (Route 454, 460a and 460b)
DRT: Pre booking is required for Demand Responsive Transport services to guarantee a seat or for a home pick up. If you would like to travel regularly on one of our rural routes you can simply register with us by phone and call to book for the day you want to travel. If you have made a booking and, for whatever reason, are unable to travel, please inform Local Link so we can offer the seat to another passenger.
TFI Anseo: You can book a bus from your location and get dropped off wherever you need to go – within the Achill and Curraun Peninsula service area. No fixed routes, just smart, flexible travel when and where you need it.

How to use the TFI Anseo app:

- Set-up your account.
- Add your pickup and destination locations.
- Within the app you can add up to 4 additional passengers, please note all passengers must travel together.
- Enable your location and push notifications so we can alert you when your bus arrives.
- The bus will come to you!
How do I make a complaint or suggestion?
We welcome feedback. If you are unhappy with a service or would like to make a suggestion, we encourage you to make contact directly with the Local Link Mayo office who manage the day-to-day Local Link services in conjunction with contracted private transport operators.
You can send a complaint, inquiry or suggestion to mail@locallinkmayo.ie or telephone 094 900 5150. To make a complaint, please provide as much detail as possible so that we can investigate and try to resolve the issue.
Are dogs allowed on the bus?
Guide dogs and Assistance dogs accompanying passengers are permitted to travel on all Local Link services free of charge and without restriction.
All guide-dog owners carry identification cards, and the dog will have a tag on its lead which will read “Irish Guide Dog for the Blind”.
Assistance dogs are used by some people with different types of disabilities, such as autism, deafness or balance problems (Stability Dogs). An assistance dog will always be wearing a blue coat marked “Assistance Dog”. A parent or guardian who is accompanying a child with an assistance dog will also be carrying an identity card for the dog.
Therapy Dogs – When a member from Irish Therapy Dogs visits a Care Facility or Hospital they always wear their uniform (gold sweater with logo and black trousers). The dog also has a yellow coat, collar and lead to show that he too is a member.
Apart from the foregoing exceptions, dogs, cats or any other animals or live fowl of any description WILL NOT be carried.
